Garrett Popcorn

I knew that I was not the first person that was happy when found out that Garrett Popcorn has opened their outlet in KLCC...I never tasted this popcorn before but I got to know about it through a write up of a blogger...

The closest outlet that Garrett has other than Malaysia is in Singapore and so far the reviews about this popcorn were so impressive.

I'm one of the kind that like to try something new & different...I have seen so many reviews about Garrett and of course I too want to be one of the reviewers .

To start with, I went for a meeting with my client in KLCC last week..coincidentally Garrett Popcorn has just open its store..I think I was their first customer..there were only 2 flavors available at that time i.e. CaramelCrisp and Plain so I've bought 1 medium of CaramelCrisp..the smell of caramel was so irresistible and its definitely compliment with the taste.

So, today I went to KLCC again purposely to buy this as my little angel has now addicted to it..there you go...presenting the Macadamia CaramelCrisp (the best selling)...every bites of the popcorn come with the crunchiness of the Macadamia (big nuts not chopped!) ;)



It has been a while since.........

It has been a while since my last update in this blog....so many things to be shared but time didn't permit...hectic in office and home too...there were so many things (good and bad) happened this year...I prayed to God for my health and life...there are so many things need to be done and supported..


Life is still the same; nothing has changed...........perhaps some new addition in wardrobe ;-)...(while typing this, I am surrounding with voices and hopes for Malaysia to win over football match against Indonesia...not so bothered as not my interest)


But at least, I do have a weekly routine with my dear angel...she loves her ballet and of course collecting her treasures from Toys R Us...once a while I need a stop from everything..nowadays feeling not so good...tired, mentally stressed and tortured, physical also not so good probably due to age ;-) (but I'm not that too old)...work never end but life will end...hhmmm..so many things to think...(not really sure what was my motive of writing!)


I love to write and really hope I can continue blogging more often like before...

Watch Out Diabetic Patient!!!!

You never know that diabetic can cause chaotic in your life...don't take it simple and easy when you have family members that have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus...it was not just a diabetes but it is a SILENCE KILLER...

My writing is based on my experience...this is happened to my mum who is suddenly been diagnosed with dementia and heart disease..she had been diagnosed for her diabetes mellitus and hypertension for more than 10 years and has been taking medications for this since then...she had her first stroke when I was at 20 years old, which has weakened her right side of body..

Recently, her diabetes is uncontrollable even on insulin and medications...it just getting worst than better...tons and tons medicines going in her body but this have not helped at all...

It was all started about 3 weeks ago, when she complaint that she can't sleep for 3 days straight....this of course has caused her blood pressure rise and effect her diet routine...on the 4th day she has shown signed of memory loss....it was a sudden..really, without us imagine that this could happen to her...a short term memory loss..that's what the doctor has said..she can't remember that she has eaten when we fed her 5 mins before, constantly asking for her medicines even though we have given to her..she kept thinking and talking about her past rather than concentrating on what is happening now..

For past 10 years, she has seen the doctors in government's clinic & hospital for her treatment...the doctor never advise or treated her for heart check up....the most that she has done was a blood and urine test...the MOST thing that you as a diabetic patient should know that diabetic can cause your kidney, heart, eyesight and brain damage...this is when you don't control your diabetic...

I have to admit and believe that because of my ignorance that my mum has came to this stage...I'm keep telling to myself that if I knew and paid extra attention this would not happen to my mum.....sadly, we live in world of IT and have been fed with so many sources and information and this should have helped us more than we should know...how stupid am I!!!


Back to my mum story...when she had her mild stroke attack, I decided to send her to government clinic to see her regular doctor for her advise and at the same time to seek her guidance on the medicines...the doctor at that time did not mention that my mum's condition is critical and she just gave a referral letter for my mum to see a specialist in Selayang Hospital...she did mention my mum could have a mild stroke attack and a CT brain  should be done..


Unfortunately, to see a specialist in government hospital you would need to make an appointment..we have to wait for about 2 weeks to see the doctor..and another 2 months to conduct the CT brain...well, the doctor might see my mum's condition is not critical which I don't think so...after 1 week my mum's consultation with the specialist in Selayang Hospital, I decided to bring my mum to see a specialist in a private hospital...a specialist in diabetic, an Endocrinologist who I prayed to help me and my mum..


The first time we met the doctor, I have been scolded by the doctor...he said that I have been ignorance about my mum conditions...I should have brought her to Emergency when the first stroke attacked her....I DID NOT KNOW!!! that is what I have been telling the doctor...the doctor in government hospital never advise me to do so, the doctor in Selayang Hospital never emphasized about a mild stroke that should have been treated urgently..well, the doctor was surprised and speechless with my remarks on these doctors..he was probably shocked with the consultation that these doctors in government hospital have provided to us..


Well, nothing much we can do on this right?? We just proceed with what we should have done...immediately the doctor had instructed the blood and urine test, x-ray, ECG and CT brain are conducted on my mum...he told the lab and his nurse to produce the result within 2 hours, which I don't need to wait for 2 months....wow!!! totally proactive and efficient...thats the different a doctor in government hospital (which I understand they have to cater so many patients) and a doctor in a private hospital...


The results from all the tests done on my mum were very unexpected...her CT brain shown sign of stroke and so much nerves that has damaged or dead, her ECG reading was not good and there was sign of heart problem...the doctor has referred my mum to a Cardiologist for further check-up/test and a Neurologist who is specialized and would help to advise on how to handle a dementia patient..

I'm praying for my mum to get better and even better than before...I'm controlling her diet, making sure medications are taken properly and at the same time trying any sort of other remedies that I think would be good for her..

My Mum

It has been a while since my last entry....I was busy handling and taking care of my mum. She suddenly had mild stroke attack and loss her memory..It was a shock to all of us..knowing that my mum has diabetic & hypertension, we never knew that uncontrolled diabetic & hypertension can cause of memory loss..

Everything changed in our life...my mum is not like before..we have to take care of her like a child, where you have to monitor where she goes, what she does, what she eat, etc..I can't leave my mum unaccompanied..well I guess this our pay back time..She took care of us whole of her life, now is our time to do our part as a child.

I have hired an Indonesian maid to take care of my mum (just hired last saturday)...so right now is praying to God for her JP Visa Application is approved by Immigration, so that I can legalise and get her work permit. I'm also praying to God that this maid will take good care of my mum while I'm not around...nothing is more important than to see my mum healthy and attended very well...even more important than MONEY!!....I'm really miss all the moments with my mum when she is still in good health :( - even though we always have quarrel a lot!

Weekend Splurge

I'm on a strict diet..but for weekend I've declared to my body as a free day, which is no diet necessary but just controlling the food :)..so, as usual I like to eat something nice for this week..since we have not been eating seafood for quite a while (due to my cholesterol issue),  so I've decided to hangout at our favorite restaurant, Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co.

The name is nothing compared to its look and taste...soooo yummy, delicious and a SINFUL to all the dieters lol...don't believe me?? check this out.........

My first creation of Whoppies Pie ;)



Don't you think it looks so yummy :D?? I do....I have to break my tight diet coz of this sinful yummylicious!!!

Recipe??? Try this yourself...you won't regret with the result.

Chocolate Whoopie Pies

1 3/4 cups (230 grams) all purpose flour

3/4 cup (75 grams) cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup (170 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature

3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated white sugar

1 large egg, room temperature

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/4 cup (60 ml) buttermilk

1/2 cup (120 ml) lukewarm water

Vanilla Filling

1/4 cup (55 grams) vegetable shortening

1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) (55 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature

1 cup (115 grams) icing sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup (120 ml) light corn syrup

I don't like shortening or butter base filling, so I have made my own filling using fresh whipping cream. How to do?? Just mix all and beat.

Whipping Cream

2 cups of Whipping Cream (heavy cream is better)

1/4 cup of Icing Sugar

1tsp Vanila essence

How to Bake: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and place oven rack in the center of the oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large bowl sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In the bowl of your electric mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment (can also use a hand mixer), beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg beating well. Beat in the vanilla extract. In a small measuring cup, mix the buttermilk and water. With the mixer on low speed, alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk/water mixture, in three additions, beginning and ending with the flour. Drop heaping tablespoons (or any scoop spoon) of the batter onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.

Bake for about 9-10 minutes or until the tops of the cookies, when lightly pressed, spring back. Remove from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Vanilla Filling: Beat the shortening and butter until soft and creamy. With the mixer on its lowest speed, gradually beat in the icing sugar. Increase the speed to high, and beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Then, with the mixer on low speed, beat in the vanilla extract and slowly drizzle in the corn syrup. Continue to beat until the filling looks like soft mayonnaise.

 

To Assemble: Take one cookie and spread a heaping tablespoon of the filling on the flat side of the cookie. Top with another cookie.

The assembled cookies can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for several days. Bring to room temperature before serving.

Yesterday evening, we were out to a nearby shopping mall..intentioned was to purchase a pair of jeans, but then decided just to buy a belt...supposed to be only a belt, end up bought another pair of Nike Dry-Fit and two of Adidas Tops...what an attitude????

While walking around the mall, we stepped into toys dept...initially Emil wanted a bow..like  a Minnie's pink bow, but we couldn't find there..I was telling her...'girl, mummy couldn't find any bows here..so why don't you look for something else?'...with immediate she answered, "hhmmm... I want a parchel pises!!!" ...erkk!!!!! my husband and me both looking each other, figuring out what was she meant or wanted..???

She was at that time looking at a puzzle..."is this what she wanted??" I asked my husband and at the same time I've asked her again...and the answer still "I want a parchel pises!!!" and this time  she is holding a puzzle of Disney Princess...owh, okay...she probably meant a "puzzle pieces or puzzle princess"...hahahaha what a cute girl!!!

Emil's 3rd Birthday

On 16th January 2011 we celebrated Emils 3rd Birthday with all our family members only. It was a fun gathering with all our family members..however, my in laws cant make it as my FIL was sick..On that day we celebrated our niece, Anis and my youngest brother's, Adi birthday too.

My busy day was started the day before the event..i've baked my own birthday cake for Emilda. Remember my previous post about Minnie Mouse cake?? Yup, i did it!! but not with the same pictures..looking at my present condition, i didn't think i'll have time to draw on the cake, so i've decided to order an edible image of Minnie Mouse from Edible Print..the image was so fantastic!! and it was easy to work with :)

I've baked a moist chocolate cake with fresh cream and strawberry filling...hmmm so yummy and chocolaty...everyone is seemed enjoyed the cake and food that i've cooked on that day..

Since this birthday is celebrated among family members, i've served them with a local dishes for our lunch....typical Malay food, i assumed...'ikan pari masak asam pedas', 'sambal udang petai', 'ayam goreng berempah', mix vegetables and fried chicken nuggets for the kids. In addition i've cooked 'Mee Rebus' to compliment with the cake.

2011 Getaway

Yup...we just started our year 2011 and now we are starting to plan our 2011 getaway :)..well, what is in mind for our vacation this year??? I've got few places already in mind and some of it should happen last year but it didn't...so hopefully this year is will come true..a nice vacation with my love one. Choices for this year are within Asia region only.

1st : Universal Studio Singapore (should have been here last Dec. 10)

2nd : Disneyland Hong Kong

3rd : China (probably will combine with HK trip)

4th : Korea (all the time in my list)

5th : Langkawi Island (again for this year coz of my MIL request)

For now we have not set any dates yet. This will depend on our working schedule, health and of course must be with god will. I've started made research for these places except for Langkawi Island (been there few times already) i.e. flights, hotels, food, places to visit, etc. 

What a day of Loewe!

I'm in the midst looking for a new wallet..so for past few days I have been searching online for a good bargain / deal of an authentic designer wallets. Well, that is what I like to do when I have nothing to be done at home i.e. surfing the net which most of the time looking at what is new in the market especially on handbags!

Well to make a story, I had came across to one website which is owned by a local chinese owner, I believe so. This shop which I would say mostly selling preloved authentic (which they claimed so) designer handbags, wallets & watches. While browsing their website, I found one nice Loewe wallet in Black, which they are selling at RM1,890.00 come with dust bag, box, card and it is a BRAND NEW. The retail price published for this wallet is RM 2,600.00. Not to miss the opportunity to own this gorgeous wallet, I've decided to go to the shop which is nearby to my residence area to view this wallet.

To my surprise, this wallet looks really gorgeous and at one glance you would definitely say it is an authentic Loewe wallet. Lucky me, I don't really trust that this drop-dead piece is selling way cheaper from its retail price. My husband and myself inspect the bag thoroughly and carefully. While the salesman is entertaining the other customer, we found the price tag that they have put in the wallet. Earlier they have taken the tag out to check the discount price without we seeing the tag. I'm totally in shocked when I read the tag that they have hand written with "MADE IN CHINA"

Owh!! I'm not going to buy a luxury wallet which is MADE IN CHINA while the wallet itself represent as LOEWE MADRID. It is definitely a NO! and I would not be happy and satisfy to own this piece. Well, without further questions to the salesman we left the shop with an excuse, "please find the box first...you can call us when you found it"

Now, I'm still in search of my new wallet..I'm thinking of getting a Louis Vuitton Vernis Sarah in Amarante..or a Chanel Lambskin Wallet (i found one at RM 1,799.00 - good deal huh?)..Will post this up once I have this in my possession :)

Our New Year Weekend

We left year 2010 behind with good and bad memories..and hope year 2011 will be a good year with full of love, wealth and health, insyallah.

So, how is your new year celebration? For us, we did not go or celebrate anywhere..just at home :) I'm not too well since last week, so not really in the mood to go out. However, since my lil angel so cranky over the weekend, we have decided to go out for our "Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan" :D

We went to Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co located at The Curve Shopping Mall in Mutiara Damansara for our lunch on Sunday..There were so many people in the mall on that day but it has not stopped us to enjoy our fabulous lunch..
